Watching last November our friends EmptyPockerRacers racing in Serres Racing Circuit all the time I wondered what exactly they do. Seeing their social media post from a 6-hour endurance race in December got me excited!
How nice it would be to participate in a real endurance race and try to apply what I have learned in the simulator by participating in various endurance championships and from real races I have participated in so far.

Η αλήθεια είναι ότι το Τρίπολη - Σέρρες είναι λίγο μακρυά για να συμμετάσχω σε κάτι τέτοιο με το Peugeot 205 GTi, ειδικά όταν δεν υπάρχει σωστό μέσο μεταφοράς του αγωνιστικού. Ένα 10ωρο και παραπάνω ταξίδι με τρέιλερ και επιβατικό είναι απαγορευτικό και συνάμα κρύβει πολλούς κινδύνους.
Here is my chance...
In December, the Hellenic Time Trial Challenge team came up with an idea to form a team and attempt to participate in the next 6-hour endurance race in February with the team's Mazda MX-5 NC 1800cc.
The HTTC has a special place in my heart because it was my first track experience with the Peugeot 205 and all the track days we have participated in are well organised and at a very good level in all areas.
With this in mind and having met Mr. Lekakis I decided to register my interest. The response was immediately positive, which proves the mutual trust and respect as we would be driving his vehicle on a track day with 20 cars on the track!
The team was formed although with difficulty due to the obligations of some members we went to Serres with 3 drivers.
The team's strategy was to drive as much as possible to gain experience with the car and to prepare better for the next endurance races. The support team quickly learned the refueling process as we had only counted on one tire change.
First driving experience with Mazda MX-5 NC 1800cc
Το Σάββατο ήταν ημέρα δοκιμών όπου για πρώτη φορά οδήγησα το αυτοκίνητο. Η προπόνηση στον προσομοιωτή με παρόμοιο αυτοκίνητο και την πίστα των Σερρών στο Assetto Corsa έφερε άμεσα αποτέλεσμα καθώς μετά από 4 γύρους ήμουν εξικειωμένος με το αυτοκίνητο και τη συμπεριφορά του. Έγραψα έναν πολύ καλό χρόνο όπου την επόμενη μέρα του αγώνα σίγουρα θα βελτιωνόταν με τα καινούρια ελαστικά.
On Saturday was a test day where I drove the car for the first time. The training on the simulator with a similar car and track on Assetto Corsa had an immediate effect as after 4 laps I was familiar with the car and its behaviour. I set a very good time which I was sure to improve on the next race day with the new tyres.
On Sunday, unfortunately after the first half hour the car developed a mechanical problem. We didn't give up we tried to repair the car and keep going, as the goal was to do as many kilometers as we could but we didn't succeed.
It was another experience that made me learn and understand a lot of things. Maybe luck was not on our side but we will prepare better for the next race.
